FIRST LID WITH A WEBSITE?
Aqua Shield Inc. makes storm drainage equipment for private developers, but this cover may be most notable for being perhaps the first manhole to include a website in its inscription -- www.aquashieldinc.com. The company was started in 1999.
DESIGN:
The cover is design intensive, with a crisp logo in the center and several rings of text inscriptions circling around. The foundry, East Jordan Iron Works is spelled out on top. This is an important clue to the cover's date as East Jordan Iron Works changed it's name to EJ in 2012.

This cover is found at the St. George ferry terminal on Staten Island on the path leading to the Lighthouse Museum. A updated version can be found in Greenpoint near Newtown Creek.
