The star, studs and makers name was the protoypical design for coal hole covers at this time. This one had a nicely finished seat rim
UTILITY:
Kept the denizens of the sidewalk vault safely sealed inside.
RANGE:
This cover is from 84th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Aves on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The design motif can be found across the city.
