Artisanal Brooklyn Manhole Art
This blank cover was customized by a Navy Yard welder both for safely (traction on the cover when its wet) and perhaps for identification (it has the wheel and spoke pattern of many sewer covers.)
DESIGN:
Sixtiien spokes on this wheel, but the slightly irregular inner line gives it more the appearance of a spider web, than a wheel.
UTILITY:
Maybe Sewers.
RANGE:
This unique cover was found on Morris Ave. near 4th St. in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Perhaps significantly, it was just around the corner from a TV shoot of an episode of 'Gotham' -- is this lid really just a TV prop?
